モーリス・バーンスタインは、画期的で数々の賞を受賞した音楽会社“Giant Step（ジャイアント・ステップ）”の共同創設者兼CEOです。イギリス・マンチェスター出身の彼は、ニューヨークに移住し、すぐに同市の活気あるクラブシーンと多様な音楽文化にのめりこみました。
モーリスのリーダーシップのもと、Giant Stepは伝説的なアンダーグラウンド・パーティーから発展し、Daft Punk、Massive Attack、Jamiroquaiなどのアーティストをアメリカに紹介したことで知られる存在となりました。その後、Nuyorican SoulやRon Trentなどの影響力ある作品を手がける先駆的なレコードレーベルへと成長。現在では、Giant Stepは世界的に認知されるクリエイティブ・エージェンシーとしても活動しており、Amy Winehouse、Lady Gaga、Janelle Monaeといったアーティストや、EDITION Hotels、Samsung、Intel、ABSOLUTなどの大手ブランドとも協業しています。
長年にわたるミュージックラヴァ―であり、'90年代初頭にはクラブDJとしても活動していたモーリスは、長いブランクを経て再びDJブースに戻り、現在はニューヨーク、ブルックリン、マイアミで複数のレジデンシーを持っています。彼のオール・ヴァイナル・セットは、レアなソウル、ファンク、ジャズ、初期ディスコの深堀り選曲で知られています。
Maurice Bernstein is the co-founder and CEO of the groundbreaking, award-winning music company Giant Step. Originally from Manchester, UK, he moved to New York and quickly immersed himself in the city’s vibrant club scene and eclectic music culture.
Under Maurice’s leadership, Giant Step evolved from a legendary underground party?one that helped introduce America to artists like Daft Punk, Massive Attack, and Jamiroquai?into a pioneering record label behind influential releases from Nuyorican Soul, Ron Trent, and others. Today, Giant Step is also a globally recognized creative agency, having worked with artists such as Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga, and Janelle Monae, as well as leading brands like EDITION Hotels, Samsung, Intel, and ABSOLUT.
A longtime music lover and early ‘90s club DJ, Maurice returned to the decks after a long hiatus and now holds multiple residencies in New York, Brooklyn, and Miami. His all-vinyl sets are known for digging deep into rare soul, funk, jazz, and early disco.
